Setouchi Beer

Setouchi Beer is a brewery in Takamatsu City, on the northeast end of the island of Shikoku. Setouchi refers to the area around the Seto Inland Sea, the only inland sea in Japan, and is characterized by beautiful natural scenery with many scattered islands, a clear sky, and calm waves.

With these two ideas in mind I set out to create something that mixed majesty with lighthearted fun. Most designs feature natural environments but for certain styles like fruit beers we put the ingredients front and center. On a shelf you really only see a narrow portion of the can so I came up with the arched window as a way to create more harmony between the designs.

Working with other breweries

Collaboration beers provided opportunities to break the traditional design format but it was important to me to maintain the same degree of vibrancy and fun.
